Cascade: Journal of the Washington Poets Association

Cascade #1

The premier issue of Cascade: Journal of the Washington Poets Association contains 112 pages with 62 poems from contributors statewide, including 12 poems from the WPA's 2007 Stafford, Aden, Proctor, and Porad contests. Published in November 2007, Cascade #1 is dedicated to former WPA president, Victory Lee Schouten.

Member-submitted poems were guest-judged by Jeremy Gaulke, Tod Marshall, and Judith Roche. Rebecca Pirtle, John Burgess, and Michael Dylan Welch served as editors. Milo Duffin and Stephen Roxborough designed the cover. Thanks to all WPA members who submitted poems for consideration.

The poems collected here cut a wide swath, and the Cascades that are generally perceived as dividing the state into halves red and blue, desert and evergreen, are forgotten as anything but magnificent mountains. . . . The truth here might be that we are all telling the same human story in ways no one else can.
