2008 WPA Poetry Contest Submission Guidelines

2008 Annual Francine Porad Award for Haiku

Deadline

Postmarked on or before May 15, 2008 (deadline extended)

Eligibility

Open to all poets, except current WPA board members. Haiku previously published or having won awards are not eligible.

Entry Fee

Unlimited number of haiku, $1 each. Make checks payable to Washington Poets Association.

Submission

Send 2 copies of each poem, each on a separate 3x5-inch index card. On one copy of each pair of poems, include your name, address, email, and phone number. The other copy should include the poem only, for anonymous judging. Include a self addressed, stamped envelope (SASE), #10 size or larger, to be notified of contest results. For entries from outside the United States, include a self-addressed envelope and an international reply coupon (IRC), available from the post office.

Publication

Winning entries will be published in the WPA journal, Cascade, and the Washington Poets Association reserves the right to publish all winners and honorable mentions in future anthologies, newsletters, and on its website.
